Cairns Wed 2 June

Another 5.00am start - Ronky still not adjusting but points for being on time even though very sleepy!!!

Cairns is where the QLD regional head office is now set up and we met with all the Birch regional team - Rachel Wilson (promotions), Deanne Clark (advertising - hello from Dee to Kathy and Ben), Jo Phillips (assistant) and manager Andrew McNicol.

After a great but very short meeting as Rachel and Deanne had to fly to Brisbane for rate negotiation meetings requested by Chris McGlinn even though he knew we were in Cairns that day to be with Rachel and Deanne and the media - oh well - another show of great support from GU!!Therefore Rachel and Deanne didn't see the film - GU are sooooo film focused!!!

Anyway we had lunch and another beer with Andrew McNicol before Veronica went on a cinema visit while I had very successful meetings with Hot FM, Zinc FM, Mix FM and The Cairns Post. Some great insight into how we can do way more local promos without having to always go through Birch and I now have all their email addresses to bombard them with release schedule and publicity and promo ideas!!

Non stop until 5.30pm when we set up for the screening and hosted media for30 minutes and then the screening at 6.30pm. Good turnout and the reaction to the screening was excellent - they all loved it and lots of kids that laughed and thought it was great. Some of the comments were:

Loved it
Was as good as the original if not better
I would come back again and pay to see that

A beautiful dinner on the Cairns Esplanade at Salt House - just great - photos to come. Interesting couples beside us who were obviously swingers getting to know each other outside the bedroom and with clothes on - very funny to eaves drop - wish we had a photo but a lady from one couple was clearly a tranny!

Off to bed (not with the swingers) at Rydges Plaza
